Introduction
The following article is credited to Richard Hutton who conducted his interview with Gordon Hendricks from Gordon’s home in Stoke-on-Trent in the UK. The introductory photo above featuring Gordon with Bruno, Eric, Ian, and Gordie was taken at the Scotia Centre, Niagara Falls, in 2017—the year I started SIDEBURNS Magazine. It was only my second time seeing Gordon. The first time was at the Lincoln Alexander Centre in Hamilton in 2016. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to interview both Gordon Hendricks and Sandra Gold, at the Casablanca Inn and Winery in November 2017. If you click on the highlighted names, you can read both of my interviews. The article that follows below the photo grid is an unedited version of the article that appeared in Niagara This Week.
Welcome Back, Gordon. We Missed You!

Gordon Hendricks is back doing what he loves. Performing as Elvis Presley before a live audience.
And he’ll be doing just that when he makes the trip across the pond for a pair of shows in Niagara Falls this month, performing as part of a triple bill that also includes tributes to Cher and Motown on Aug. 19 at the Americana Conference Centre and Resort. The following night, he’ll be doing a show at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, Hendricks had to find a way to keep connected with his fans. So, like many artists, he went online, streaming shows to maintain his vocal chops — and in his words “make an income” during a down time.
“I started doing some online shows every two weeks,” Hendricks said in a phone interview from his home in Stoke-on-Trent in England. “I was very active and I was very creative during this period.”
It not only soothed his soul, but it was great for the fans as well, he said.
“People were thanking me so much for helping them through a terrible time.”
He made the most of the downtime, heading into the studio to record music that would be sold at each show. New songs were added to be sold at each show in what became a box set.
Now able to tour again, Hendricks has been a busy man, performing in Australia, the United States and western Canada since travel and public health restrictions were eased.
“I’ve made 18 flights in the past four months. It’s been pretty intense.”
And as he travels the world, he finds audiences are different.
“In Australia, they were really into the album cuts. In the United States, people wanted to hear the hits.”
And in Canada?
“Canada’s majority is wanting to hear a mixed bag of everything,” Hendricks said.
